An amazing artist found a way to make beautiful rings out of US currency (a quarter and nickel in particular). It was a slow process that required a lot of hammering, bending and stretching of the coins. Once there was a nice, flat edge, he would cut out the middle. Then, he smoothed down the ring so it was a nice, polished ring shape. (He was even able to leave the original ring text on the inside.)
He starts out with a normal coin…
Then, he begins flattening the outside edge.
Slowly, the edges curl around.
Ah-ha, a flat surface forms.
They”re beginning to take a ring shape.
Finally, after lots of work, they are ready to be hollowed out.
It starts with drilling a small hole.
Gradually making it bigger…
And voila! Text from the coin is even left on the inside of the ring.
His kitty can”t hold in his excitement to see the finished product.
These are truly beautiful things.
